Paul Birch - Managing Director
Paul is a career property, project management and business professional with significant experience in portfolio management, development, construction, and project management.
Since 2004, Paul has been the Group CEO of the PBI Australia Group of Companies and Managing Director of PBI Australia where he is principally responsible for the day-to-day operations of the group, compliance and contract management. Under Paul’s leadership, PBI Australia was named in BRW Magazine as one of the Top 100 Fastest Growing Companies in Australia in 2007 and was on the list of QBR Magazine’s Top 400 Businesses in Queensland over a number of years.
Stephen Birch - Construction Director
Stephen has spent the majority of his 52 years involved in the construction industry in Queensland. He holds a Medium Rise Builder’s Licence, Plumbing Licence and is qualified as an Electrical Fitter / Mechanic. Stephen has personally overseen and managed the Construction of many hundreds of millions of dollars worth of domestic, commercial, retail, industrial, civil and government assets during his career. As one of the founding Directors of PBI Australia, Stephen has been instrumental in contributing to the company’s growth, longevity and enviable reputation.
Paul Curro - Services Manager
Paul has extensive experience in both the public and private sectors, working in a variety of property related roles.
Paul has been a Senior Property Manager and Leasing Agent in the Commonwealth Government and then in both URBIS and United Group Services. Some of his clients have been the Dept of Employment, Centrelink, Australian Taxation Office and Telstra. Paul has represented these and many other organisations as a tenant advocate and leasing negotiator and has achieved excellent results for his clients through solid negotiations on their behalf. Paul has also worked as a Site Acquisition Manager working on the Hutchison 3G and Telstra telecommunications roll outs.
Paul joined PBI Australia in 2005 in the role of Project Manager for our Services Division. His responsibilities include co-ordinating maintenance services for local, state and national clients. As a Project Manager, he has been responsible for many small to medium projects as well as managing the staff who are responsible to him.
David Watt - Design & Construction Manager
David graduated with a Bachelor of Architecture degree in 1989 and practiced Architecture with noted firms Conrad and Gargett as well as Cox Rayner.
He gained a wealth of knowledge and experience working on highly detailed Health Care Facilities, University buildings and Arts Centre refurbishments.
David expanded his knowledge by operating his own Architecture Firm specialising in residential and small commercial projects before expanding into Development Project Management.
It was this passion within the building Industry that Led David to PBI where he joined the Development Team in 2007 where he organised funding and managed the construction of many of the multi-unit residential projects.
David subsequently moved into a construction management role within the firm as well as being responsible for the design, documentation and construction of projects for our valued clients. He has specialised in the refurbishments of several public buildings which have had demanding technical and time constraints. His role within the firm involves aspects of the projects from client liaison and project administration through to managing construction staff and outcomes.
Aidan O'Neill
Aidan O'Neill is a Project Manager with twelve years construction experience, with a background in detail design documentation, multi-disciplinary drafting, project management & contract administration.
Aidan's experience has been predominantly within the retail, commercial, and educational sectors. Aidan's technical background makes him a vital team member on any project.
Troy Hayman - Painting Supervisor
Troy has worked in the painting industry for the past 37 years. He commenced in 1980 with a pre-vocational course in Construction through the South Brisbane TAFE & Gateway TAFE.
In 1981, he obtained an apprenticeship with Rod Crossley Painters while completing advanced courses in estimating and wallpapering at Ithaca TAFE. He became a qualified tradesman in 1984 and has worked for various domestic painters, as well as for Berger & British Paints company and Colormarket. This position involved retail selling, mixing paints, advice re application systems and also delivering industrial, domestic and automotive paints.
Between 1988-2006, Troy worked predominantly on large commercial building sites for painting companies, Rossi & Furlan, Peter Flood and A. F. Sarri. Work involved all aspects of painted finishes including timber staining, textured and 2pack finishes on such buildings as Holy Spirit, Caboolture and P.A. Hospitals, Brisbane International and Domestic Airports, Treasury Casino, Gallery of Modern Art and various high rise apartment buildings around Brisbane.
On 13 July 2007, Troy commenced his association with PBI Australia as a subcontract painter before gaining full-time employment as Painting Team Leader on 19 October 2007. He was promoted to his current position of Painting Supervisor on 1 September 2008. This position oversees all painting works with projects from PBI Australia, PBI Services and the Painting Division’s own specific clients including city building maintenance jobs, body corporate unit blocks, colleges etc. Tasks and responsibilities include co-ordinating painting projects from start to completion, supervising staff/contractors, materials, equipment, scaffolding, estimating and WH&S requirements.
Troy has the following qualifications: QBCC Licence (No. 1114042) with Small business Management, Estimating, Lead Abatement,Sustainable Painting Practices, Working At Heights, Confined Space Certified, Elevated Work Platforms.
